Last minute Independence Day prep and burger dessert!

I’m so glad that I had the day off of work today, as I had saved all July 4th ‘making’ activities for the last minute and there were three things that I really wanted to do:
1. Finish a 4th themed quilt that Dave’s aunt had made a top for.
2. Make these to take to a July 4th BBQ.
3. Make something cute to wear on the 4th.
I’m feeling pretty great right about now because all three are done!

Here’s the quilt all tied up and ready to gift to Dave’s mom for her July 6th birthday (although I’m planning to give it to her tomorrow since it’s a 4th of July quilt and we’re meeting in the morning to watch the parade and who knows…someone may want to sit on it or something…)

Here are several photos of R and me making the burger desserts.

I had pretty good luck doing a double batch of brownies and baking them in a full size cookie sheet with a lip all around. I figured it would be okay if the hamburger patties were thinner like fast food ones than like home ones. I don’t have any fancy round cutters, but I do have the Magic Bullet and I found that the stopper on the blender lid makes perfect size burger patties for the cupcakes. There are no coincidences…

It was way easier than I thought they looked at first. I think mostly because there was no precise decorating required. The only frosting was just haphazardly squirted all over the brownie part. R was great at it.

We didn’t even make much of a mess.

I truly couldn’t believe the ease with which we constructed these cuties. I wonder if anyone will truly be fooled?

And here is my cute 4th of July skirt. (I didn’t actually make the skirt; just the flaggy part. I said flaggy.)
