More Finishing…Altering Clothes

A huge part of my unfinished projects has been a pile of clothing that I keep adding to that needs repaired, altered, or just made more interesting. I finally dug into it yesterday and have since completed the following:

I bought this dress from GAP Kids and I wore it around my waist as a skirt last summer but it needed to be officially reworked with a new waste band.

And here’s the skirt that came out of it:

I bought this child’s dress from Crazy 8 and proceeded to cut it in half, do some hemming, added elastic…

…so now, Mona has a new summer dress…

…and I have a new skirt:

And here’s a hippy skirt that I made from a dress that I bought in Mexico. The dress made me look pregnant so I opted for the skirt instead (forgot to take a photo of the whole thing first though):

Last but not least, I made this skirt last summer from scratch but it was too big so I just made it smaller today and added some pockets in coordinating fabric. I learned that I don’t know how to deal with pocket construction at all but I think it will work with this because I was hoping to see some of the pocket fabric from the outside, which is what’s happened with these, although I didn’t take a photo of the pockets pushed inside like they’re supposed to be…

I love this fabric!

Oops! Forgot one…

This skirt always unsnapped whenever I moved around so I just sewed the middle section down the snap panel so I won’t have that problem anymore…boring but here it is…
