Made for and found in Mexico

Keeping in mind that I don’t really make clothes. Ever. I made a shirt for Mexico and it turned out quite different than I had pictured it, but I still wore it and I’m pretty sure I like it. I didn’t use a pattern, so that’s why it was kind of a surprise when I was finished. I had come across some really cool fabric (it’s not a print – that’s chenille embroidery) and hadn’t gotten quite enough for a skirt, so figured a shirt was doable. I also had a pretty strong hankering for a backless shirt to take to Mexico. I even lined it, which again, is way beyond the amount of effort I normally put in. This is what I ended up with. (The photos are not great, but you get the idea.)

I had hoped to find a photo with only one chin, but this is all I had.

I have enough of the fabric left over to make a handbag. Dave tells me it would definitely be weird to wear the shirt and carry the bag at the same time, so I won’t do that.

Oh yeah, while I’m on the Mexico subject, check out the neat seed bead jewelry I picked up down there. I really like the way they did the clasps with little loops and balls. The white thing is a ring, but if I can’t stand to wear it, I might use it as a clasp for a handbag or something. The blue band is a bracelet. It totally reminds me of a wrist corsage.
